Marvelous Me

Those that have known me for years already know that I am an voracious reader and writer, and try to spend most of my time doing both (in between chasing after my dogs and cats for attention).  I am an avid gamer as well, mostly playing the Xbox 360 or playing tabletop games – primarily Dungeons and Dragons- with my friends.  Swing Dancing is another favorite hobby of mine, and I miss being in Bemidji every Wednesday for Swing Club lessons.  In other words, I am a well-rounded Nerd (I tell my students that I “fly my freak flag high”).

I am a recent graduate of Bemidji State University, with one degree in Creative and Professional Writing and my second degree in English Education. My student teaching experiences for that second degree were phenomenal, and I miss all of my students that I taught dearly, especially since it was for only a small amount of time.

Now I’m in China (which is why you’re reading this blog) on a new adventure to teach and learn as best I can over these next four months. It’s going to be challenging, and fun, but I hope that it will stretch the limits of my comfort zone in ways I know not yet to make me into a better, wiser individual. It’s the chance of a lifetime, and I’m facing it head-on!
